Our Beginnings

The Johnson family has been serving Virginia in the funeral service industry since 1962, when Robert Johnson graduated from mortuary school at John A. Gupton in Nashville, TN.

Bridgewater has had a continuous funeral home in operation for over one hundred years. It has been operated by the Rosenberger Family, Loving Funeral Home, and McMullen Funeral Home, prior to being purchased by Robert and Nell Johnson in February of 1990.

The current building in Bridgewater was built in 1977. In 2003, land was acquired from the Woodmen of the World post in Grottoes, VA. And a new building was built on the property and opened for service to the community in July of 2004.
