Obituaries

Dorene Alice Long, 80, of Bridgewater, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Dorene was born in WV on January 19, 1937, and was a daughter of the late Edith (Rexrode) and William Ollie Eye.

She retired from JMU and also worked part-time at Turner Ashby High School. She attended Spring Creek Church of the Nazarene and Sangersville United Methodist Church.

On April 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Harold Long, who survives.

In addition to her husband, Dorene is survived by five daughters, Debbie Harman and husband, Paul, of Dayton, Patty Brown and husband, Tom, of Bridgewater, Donna Wenger and husband, Don, of Bridgewater, Sherry Michael and husband, Randy, of Bridgewater, and Joyce Reese and husband, Moose, of Bridgewater; two sisters, Clona Brown and husband, Eddie, of Brandywine, and Linda Bayne and husband Les, of Crimora; a brother, Kenneth Eye and wife, Brenda, of Brandywine; ten grandchildren, Carla Joseph (Charlie), Jeff Long (Pam), Bubby Eckard (Tim), Crystal Cook (Logan), Doodie Harman (Sheena), Jerry Allman (Lauren), Jamie Allman (Amanda), Alisha Cook (Rodney), Zach Cromer, Robert Rhodes, Jr.; eighteen great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dorene is preceded in death by daughter, Bobby Jean Miller, and half-brother, Elwood Eye.

A funeral service will be held at Spring Creek Church of the Nazarene in Bridgewater at 11AM Wednesday, January 3, 2017, with Pastor Gary Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8PM Tuesday, January 2, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater, or at any time at home.
