Obituary for James Douglas Taylor

James Douglas "JD" Taylor, 81, of Grottoes, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his home.

James was born in Augusta County on July 23, 1937, a son of the late Minnie Belle (Morris) and James Albert Taylor.

In 1999 he retired from Reynolds Metals in Grottoes after 34 years of service, and was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Crimora. He had served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, golf, tennis, and riding his bike around Grottoes. His favorite baseball team was the Washington Nationals.

On Jan. 18, 1964, he was united in marriage to Rosa (Wood) Taylor, who survives.

James is also survived by a daughter, Carmen Taylor and fiancée, Jeff McCauley, of Port Republic; a son, Jeff Taylor of Port Republic; sister, Geraldine Conroy and husband, Phil, of Apple Valley, CA; brother, Donnie Taylor and wife, Brenda, of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Brandon Taylor and fiancée Christy Painter, Colby and Caleb Taylor.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Diehl.

The family will receive friends from from 6 to 7 PM Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes.

A funeral service will be conducted 3:30 PM Wednesday, Aug. 29th, at the funeral home, with Pastors Cam Carte and Neil W. McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Grottoes.
