Obituary for Larry Eugene Detamore

Larry Eugene Detamore, 82, of Harrisonburg, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Oak Lea Nursing Home.

Larry was born in Harrisonburg on August 7, 1935, a son of the late Ruth (Rexrode) and Robert Eugene Detamore.

He was a salesman for Kennedy Konstruction Kompany where he sold and oversaw the construction of many poultry houses in the valley and on the east coast. He retired after 37 years. He was a member of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church, Harrisonburg Moose Lodge, the Virginia Poultry Federation, and most recently the Belmont Ruritan Club.

On June 9, 1956, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann (Early) Detamore, who preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 2007.

Larry is survived by a daughter, Shelley D. Begoon and friend, Gary, of Harrisonburg; son, Craig S. Detamore and wife, Rose, of Hinton; three grandchildren, J.T. Begoon (Laura) of Grottoes, Wesley R. Begoon (Sadiee) of Churchville, and Jillian Begoon Marshall (Brandon) of Hinton; eight great-grandchildren, Kaden and Londyn Snipes, , Ruebin and Garrett Begoon, Jack, Kinley, Blake and Brooklyn Begoon; two step-great-grandchildren, Isaac Marshall and Tiana Parnell; pet basset hound of nine years, Arastus.

He is also preceded in death by a son, Todd F. Detamore.

The family will receive friends at Shelley's home anytime after 2PM Monday, July 30th.

A graveside service will be conducted 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 31st, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg, with Rev. Harold Meyers officiating.
