Obituary for Leslie Franklin Smith

Leslie Franklin Smith, 76, of Port Republic, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Leslie was born in Woodstock, VA, on April 1, 1942, son of the late Katharyn Elizabeth (Crabill) and Cecil Franklin Smith.

He retired from Perdue in Bridgewater, and was a member of Grottoes Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge since 1965, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

On January 13, 1963, he was united in marriage to Phyllis J. (Wilberger) Smith, who survives.

Leslie is also survived by three daughters, Teresa Smith Jackson and husband, Andrew, of Harrisonburg, Kris Smith Bowman and husband, J.B., of Rockingham, and Mickey Smith Foster and husband, Eric, of Port Republic; sister, Kathy Smith Shindel, of New Cumberland, PA; grandchildren, Leigh Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Joseph Bowman, and Christian Bowman.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 1:30 until 3 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Burial will be private following the service.

The family would like to express special thanks to Sentra RMH 4-West, Sentara Hospice, HHRC and Pastor Wayne Wright.
