Obituary for Marla Dale Cook

Marla Dale Cook, 64 of Bridgewater, passed peacefully from this life the afternoon of January 18, 2018, after a decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Marla was born on March 3, 1953, in Harrisonburg, VA to the late Bernard and Jean (Turner) Chandler

Marla was a graduate of Turner Ashby High School, class of 1971. She was united in marriage on November 18, 1972 to Thomas Carson Cook Sr.

She is survived by son Thomas Cook II, and his wife Jill of Daleville; two brothers, Robert G. “Bob” Chandler and wife Dianna Chandler, Steven D. “Steve” Chandler and wife Robin Chandler; two brothers-in-law, James E. “Jimmy” Cook and wife, Cindy Cook, Timothy L. “Timmy” Cook and wife, Gail Cook; two precious grandchildren, Carson and Olivia Cook; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Marla is preceded in death by one brother, Michael Chandler.

A Memorial service will be conducted at Briery Branch Church of the Brethren at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 22, 2018 with Pastors Marlene Chandler and Thomas Cook II officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, 2018, from 2PM-7PM at the home of her brother-in-law James Cook and wife Cindy at 7120 Community Center Road, Dayton, VA.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at VCU Medical Center for taking such good care of Marla.
