Obituary for Molly Emmett

Molly Emmett, 76, of Mount Solon, passed away at Monday, November 20, 2017 at her home.

She was born in Augusta County on February 11, 1941, and was a daughter of the late Carl and Ressie Virginia (Knott) Howdyshell.

Molly was a member of Emmanuel Church of the Brethren. She was a member in the Myers-Hodge VFW Post #8644 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved her dog, Flint and cat, Bell. Molly enjoyed doing word searches, flowers, peacocks, butterflies, listening to Elvis and vacations in Cannan Valley

On July 1, 1961, she was united in marriage to James Robert Emmett, Sr., of Mt. Solon who survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Laurie Fifer and husband Jerry, of Bridgewater,
Pamela D. Emmett and special friend, Billy Hansberger, of Basye and Julie E. Vess and husband Brian Vess, of Churchville; son, Stacey L. Emmett and special friend, Marlynn Watts, of Mt. Solon; two step sons, James R. Emmett, Jr., of Upperville and Alan S. Emmett and wife Lisa of Smithburg, MD; three sisters, Polly Hise and husband Ray, of Mt. Solon, Mazie Huffer, of Mt. Solon and Della Sines and husband David, of Bedford; and brother, Gordon B. Howdyshell, of Pekin, IL. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Travis Fifer, Shane Fifer, Corey Caplinger & wife Brittney, Emily Shull, Maddox Emmett and Jagger Emmett; two step grandchildren, Christopher Emmett and Kyle Emmett; three great-grandchildren, Chauncey, Connor and Calliope Caplinger

Molly was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Howdyshell, Robenna Dove, Katherine Rudolph, and Edna Jordan; and two brothers, Edgar Howdyshell, and Tommy Howdyshell.

A funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Church of the Brethren, in Mount Solon, at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 24, 2017, with Pastor Ryan Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial in the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Solon Fire and Rescue Squad, 86 Emmanuel Church Rd., Mount Solon, VA 22843.
