Obituary for Thelma Mae "Granny" Cash

Thelma Mae "Granny" Cash, 94, went to be with her Savior, the man she worked for. She was an avid Christian and a member of the Ray of Hope Church in Harrisonburg for many years.

She was the daughter of the late Stuart and Rosie Morris, of Grottoes.

On May 27, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harry T. Cash, who preceded her in death in July 1975.

She is survived by a son, Melvin "Pete" Cash, of Bridgewater; daughter, Elnora Skidmore Carpenter and husband Dwain, of Staunton; brother, Ben Morris and wife Rose, of Danville; daughter-in-law, Linda Cash, of Broadway; grandchildren, Dawn Sooy and husband Art, Lisa Skidmore Gimm and husband Tony, Jennifer McNamara and husband Jamie, Jewel Cash and fiancé Brent Litten, and Harry Cash and wife Joscelynn; great-grandchildren, Joey McNamara, Austin and Travis Malseed; great-great-grandson, Grady Malseed.

She was also preceded in death by her son, J. Michael Cash, whom was tragically killed May 2, 2017; son-in-law, William Richard Skidmore; sisters, Lorraine Evans, Margaret Via, and Jeanette Lam; brothers, Joe Morris, Melvin "Jake" Morris, and Daniel "Junebug" Morris.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8PM Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.

A funeral service will be conducted 11AM Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater, with Pastors James Kite and Chaplain David Kite officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johnson Funeral Service to aid in burial expenses.
