Obituary for William "Bill" Elwood Blosser

William Elwood “Bill” Blosser, 79, of Rockingham Co., passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Rockingham County on September 19, 1938, and was a son of the late Solomon and Irene (Hoover) Blosser, and his step mother, Hersie Blosser.

Bill retired from VDOT as an inspector of utility and highway. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Bill loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing golf, riding motorcycles and his dogs.

He was united in marriage on November 12, 1988 to Florenda "Sam" (Vandevander) Blosser, of Rockingham Co.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Deb Wake and husband Steve, of Vienna, VA and Sherry Emerson and husband Tom, of Mt. Sidney; two sisters, Judy Michalovskis and husband John, of Waynesville, MO and Vicki Hartman and husband Jon, of Lost River, WV. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Simon Wake, Lella Wake, Malcolm Wake, Chloe Emerson, Nia Emerson, and Elijah Emerson.

A service celebrating Bill's life will be held at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 7, 2017 with David Kite officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

The family appreciates the support of all of Bill's caregivers during his illness, especially Tannen Healy.
