Obituary for Louise Marie Long Stover

Louise Marie Long Stover, 103, of Richmond, (formerly of Bridgewater) passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Our Lady of Hope. Louise moved to Our Lady of Hope to be closer to her family. She was a resident of Our Lady of Hope for eight plus years.
Louise was born in Clover Hill, VA on March 15, 1915, and was a daughter of the late James Elmer and Ethel Neff (Smith) Long. She was the oldest of seven children, four of whom are deceased.
Louise graduated from Bridgewater High School. On November 17, 1934 she married Garnett Edward Stover of Spring Creek VA. Garnett passed away on April 25, 1984. During their married life, Garnett and Louise lived in Spring Creek, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg, Alexandria and Bridgewater, VA. Louise had worked at Joseph Ney’s and Singers Sewing Center in Harrisonburg. She retired as an accounting clerk for a defense contractor in Alexandria, Virginia. Louise was an active member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church, and she was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Wright and husband Les, of Mechanicsville, VA; Patricia Jane Stover, also of Mechanicsville; and a son, G. Edward Stover, Jr. and wife Michelle, of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia; two brothers, Norman S. Long and wife Maxine, of Indianapolis, IN and Wayland Long, of Dayton, VA.. She is also survived by four grandchildren: G. Edward "Tripp" Stover III (Andrea), Katherine Jones (Patrick), Wesley Harrison (Griff), and Phillip Tuck and six great grandchildren: Clarise, Kinley, and Tesse Jones; Avery and Garnett Stover; Brooke Harrison.
The family would like to thank Mila Cordic and the Assisted Living staff at Our Lady of Hope and also the dining room personnel. Their love and care made Louise’s experience at Our Lady of Hope very comfortable and pleasant.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Bridgewater United Methodist Church in Bridgewater, VA with Rev. Stephen Creech and Rev. Jim Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater, VA.
