Obituary for Larry Allen Dickenson

Larry Allen Dickenson, 67, of Stokesville, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Cass, WV on May 5, 1950, and was a son of the late Roger and Elva (Eary) Dickenson.

Larry worked as a maintenance mechanic for Marvel and Perdue for 23 years, and retired in 2013. He was a metal crafter and Jeep enthusiast. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.

He was united in marriage to Wilma Jean (Helmick) Dickenson on July 31, 1971 and they moved to the valley in 1975.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Michele Lynn Greenwalt, and Lori Ann Emmett and Fiancé Ben Crawford; two sisters, Polly Monk and Linda Elliott; three brothers, Keith Dickenson, Eugene Dickenson and Bill Dickenson. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Maddox Emmett, Jagger Emmett, Caden Crawford, Madelyn Crawford, Lacey Crawford, Alicia Greenwalt, Hunter Greenwalt, Noah Greenwalt, and Ryan Greenwalt

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Lee Dickenson and, Henry Clipscomb Dickenson, and three sisters, Dorothy May Dickenson Strehlen, Eloise Helen Dickenson Hargar, and Ginger Rogers Dickenson Monk.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Solon Fire and Rescue Squad 86 Emmanuel Church Rd. Mount Solon, VA 22843.
