Obituary for Ryan Scott Puffenbarger

Ryan Scott Puffenbarger, 35, of Richmond (and formerly of Bridgewater) passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Harrisonburg on October 16, 1982, a son of Linda May (Beverage) Puffenbarger of Weyers Cave and Carl Hugh Puffenbarger and wife Diane of Bridgewater.
Ryan graduated from Fort Defiance High School in 2001 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Shenandoah University in 2006. He loved music and played multiple instruments with an emphasis on the euphonium and trumpet. He was a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity. He had an interest in the theater and had recently auditioned for and been given a performing part in the Dark Raven Museum, which honors Edgar Allen Poe. He was active in Little League Baseball and participated in the Bridgewater Lawn Party where he enjoyed the tractor pull, the parade and rode his 1949 Farmall C. In his younger years, he loved riding on tractors with his dad. He was a member of Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church and was active in the youth group there. Although Ryan was the youngest of his brothers, he was admired by them for his strength and determination.
In addition to his parents, Ryan was richly blessed to have his life partner, Melody Wilson of Richmond; his brothers Michael Neal Puffenbarger and wife Melody of Waynesboro; Patrick Carl “Pack” Puffenbarger and wife Shannon; and Christopher Alan Puffenbarger and wife Dana of Weyers Cave; a step-sister Brittany Melton and husband Jason of Staunton. He is also survived by a niece, Olivia Puffenbarger, and two nephews, Brayden Melton and Zachary Melton; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; numerous friends; and his beloved cats Vader, Tori, and Meeko.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 with The Reverend Glenn Coleman and The Reverend Curtis Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Mossy Creek Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 6:oo to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
